n this Clery's Rendezvous painting you can make out the romantic couple who have just met up for a night out in Dublin city centre. Under the Clock was always a traditional place to meet your boyfriend or girlfriend going back years ... it was a safe spot that everyone knew and around 7 or 8 p.m. you could see loads of expectant faces waiting anxiously ...... looking nervously at the time above ...... and if someone gets 'stood up' there will be hell to pay for the ensuing 'walk of shame' !
