Clerys Rendezvous, Dublin - 254
Limited Edition Print
n this Clery's Rendezvous painting you can make out the romantic couple who have just met up for a night out in Dublin city centre. Under the Clock was always a traditional place to meet your boyfriend or girlfriend going back years ... it was a safe spot that everyone knew and around 7 or 8 p.m. you could see loads of expectant faces waiting anxiously ...... looking nervously at the time above ...... and if someone gets 'stood up' there will be hell to pay for the ensuing 'walk of shame' !
Sometimes my interest is piqued and I like to research some of my painting subjects, especially Dublin street scenes and pubs and bars and am often amazed at some of the snippets of curious information I come across. Follow this link to read one or two about Clerys of O’Connell Street ….
